In this article I will explore the best way to travel in Texas. For the most part the road to San Antonio follows the Gulf of Mexico and there are plenty of opportunities to see the many beaches and waterways that line the coast of Texas.

The quickest and easiest route to La Porte, Texas from Baytown, TX to La Porte, TX is through Houston. From Houston take I-10 East to Humble; turn west on Hwy 4 and continue east on Hwy 4 through College Station. Then turn right on FM 1486 and proceed through Victoria to Elgin. Turn right on FM 756 and proceed through Victoria, then continue north on FM 24.3 to Clearwater and turn right on FM 890.

From La Porte, take the Trans-Pecos International Railroad to Atascocita. From Atascocita take Highway 6 south a few miles. From there it is about five miles south of Clearwater on the US 75 highway. Turn left on US 75 North and proceed three miles west to reach the end of the highway. You will see an intersection on the left, turn right and proceed to cross under the freeway, turn left and proceed down a few hundred feet.

From La Porte travels north along Highway 6 past Beeville, then proceed another two miles to Baytown. From Baytown you will see the highway transition to a state highway and you will be able to travel north on Highway 6 for about three miles to Beeville.

From Beeville travel two miles west on Highway 6 to a turn-off on the right. You will see an intersection on your right where the highway merges with I-20 West. Make a left on I-20 West and then make a left on Highway 6 South towards Beeville.

Finally travel two miles South on Highway 6 West to an intersection and make a right turn onto Beeville. When you turn right at the first intersection you will see an entrance on the right and you will see two toll booths; one on your right and one on your left. After making a right at both toll booths, turn right again at the second exit and continue down the hill until you reach a road labeled "Baytown and Turnpike", turn left into the street to your left and travel a little more than half mile to reach Beeville.

From Beeville turn left at the third intersection and travel one mile west to another street on your left. After turning left you will see a sign for Old Gulf Beach Road.

From Beeville, travel a couple miles north on Old Gulf Beach Road until you reach a four-way intersection where Highway 6 turns to a left and then turns to a right. From there you will need to make a right and make a left onto Baytown road.
